First Visit

Gathering Information

When we fist meet, we will gather information about you and ask you a lot of questions about your current condition, and also about your past health history. We will use an iPad, or if you are more comfortable with a pen and paper, we will provide it instead.

Consultation

Once we have the information we need, you will have a consultation with the doctor to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, as well as to discuss the next steps needed to fully assess your condition.

Health History and Examination

In order to determine what your actual problem is, the doctor and team will ask you various questions related to your current condition, as well as your health history, and investigate any possible contributing factors to your present condition. Depending upon the complexities of your particular case, the doctor and team may utilize a number of diagnostic tests in the office, and or recommend tests such as MRI, CT, Bone Density Tests (DEXA) or lab studies to help clearly and thoroughly evaluate your health status. You will be involved in the discussion of each and every test recommended. Doctor patient communication is an essential part of our care.

X-ray Imaging Studies

Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays to either rule out more serious conditions and to assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. We utilize state of the art digital x-ray equipment. This latest technology allows us to clearly see structural and other issues, to insure we have the best possible information to help you. Your studies will be done in an upright position, weight bearing, to help us determine the impact gravity has on your underlying skeletal structures. The team will also take a digital photograph of you from the front and side to assess your posture and overall biomechanics. When correlated with the x-ray images of your body, a comprehensive understanding of your body is achieved.

Follow Up Consultation and Treatment Options

Once all the data is gathered to assess your condition, the doctor will begin working with you to address your immediate needs. A follow up visit to learn about your condition, and review all the findings obtained by the doctor and team will be scheduled. At this consultation, the doctor will show you the radiographs (x-rays) and results of your diagnostic tests. Options for addressing your unique problem will be presented. You will be involved in the decision as to how to proceed, once all the options are fully understood. Treatment will proceed efficiently, and in keeping with your wants, needs and goals.

Home Instructions

Prior to leaving, patients will be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be conducted at home. This may include ice or heat application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises and/or stretches. The team will want to stay in close contact with you via phone, text or email, to insure your needs are met, you will have round the clock access to the doctor as needed.

Next Steps

You will be given convenient appointment times for your follow-up visits. The doctor will base your treatment plan on your wants and needs, and any and all unique considerations that your condition presents will be addressed. Ongoing communication is important, as is education. Our objective is to insure you learn as much as possible about your condition, and how, working together, we are able to optimize your recovery.
